Why personality modes matter
Discord servers are wildly different from each other. A programming server and a creative writing community should not feel like they are talking to the same bot. Personality modes let admins tune Ophraxx AI's communication style to match their community without needing to touch anything technical.
The modes work by appending a behavioral addendum to the system prompt that shapes tone, phrasing, and response structure. Crucially, this addendum sits on top of — not in place of — the core safety rules. No personality mode can disable content moderation, bypass the safeguard pipeline, or change what Ophraxx AI refuses to do. Tone is configurable; safety is not.
The five modes
Default is the balanced baseline: helpful, intelligent, and naturally adaptive to the tone of the conversation. It is the starting mode for all servers and works well for general-purpose communities. Professional is formal and precise — structured responses, no slang, leading with the most important information first. It is suited for business, productivity, or professional development servers.
Friendly is warm and conversational, comfortable with light humor and a relaxed tone — the knowledgeable friend experience. Tutor is patient and educational, breaking down complex topics with analogies and real-world examples and actively inviting follow-up questions. It works well for study groups, learning communities, and subject-specific servers. Concise is the most minimal mode — one to three sentences, bullet points over paragraphs, no preamble, straight to the point. Best for fast-paced servers where every word counts.
How to configure
Personality mode is set through the /setup command. It applies server-wide — all users in all channels interact with the same mode. There is no per-user or per-channel override in the current release. Admins can change the mode at any time by running /setup again; the new mode takes effect on the next message.
We are tracking which modes see the most use across beta servers. Based on that data, we may add additional modes or refine existing ones in future updates. Feedback on how modes are performing in your server can be sent through our support Discord.
